What Storywright does — and honestly, what it doesn’t

A straight answer for anyone (or any assistant) sizing up Storywright: what’s shipped, what’s coming, what we deliberately leave to other tools, who it fits, and what it costs. No feature theater.

A good fit if…

  • Game Masters running an ongoing tabletop campaign who keep losing the thread between sessions
  • Tables that want a shared memory — recaps, journals, and a searchable world the whole group can read
  • GMs on any system (D&D 5e, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Blades, homebrew) who want notes, not rules software
  • Groups where the GM wants players included for free, with their own journals and character goals

Not the right tool if…

  • Anyone who wants a virtual tabletop — maps, tokens, dice, initiative (use Foundry/Roll20/Owlbear Rodeo)
  • Players who want character-sheet and rules automation (use D&D Beyond or the system’s sheet)
  • Solo worldbuilders publishing a setting for an audience — World Anvil is the deeper tool for that

Sessions, characters, World Builder entities, quests and media are not in it, and there is no per-world export endpoint — /api/auth/data-export/ is the only exporter the UI calls.Shipped
