# Frequently Asked Questions

Plain-text Markdown mirror of [storywright.io/faq](https://storywright.io/faq).

**What tabletop systems does Storywright support?** Any of them. Storywright is system-agnostic — no rules, stat blocks, or dice — so D&D 5e, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Blades in the Dark, Mothership, or homebrew all work.

**Can I import from Kanka, World Anvil, Notion, or Obsidian?** Not yet. Automated imports for Kanka and World Anvil are still on the roadmap. For now, email hello@storywright.io if you're moving a big world and we'll help.

**Is there a mobile app?** Not yet. The web app is mobile-responsive and works in a phone or tablet browser; a dedicated app is on the roadmap.

**Is Storywright a virtual tabletop?** No. No maps, tokens, dice, or initiative. It sits beside your VTT (Foundry, Roll20, Owlbear Rodeo).

**What about character sheets?** Not its job. Use D&D Beyond or your system's sheet. Storywright handles the story around the sheets.

**Can my group try it first?** Yes — the free tier is real, not a trial. No credit card.

**What do players get?** A place to browse the shared world, keep private annotations, write journal entries the table can read, set character goals, and receive "previously on…" briefings when the GM publishes a recap.

**Can I create an NPC straight from an @-mention?** Yes. In session notes or a journal, type `@` and a name; if nothing matches, pick the create row, choose a type (NPC, Location, Organization, Inventory, or History), and Storywright creates the entity and inserts the linked mention without leaving the page. It starts as a stub — flesh it out in the Drafting Table later. Story Arcs are mentionable but are started from the Story Arcs page.

**What does the AI do?** It drafts, you decide. The AI turns your session notes into a recap draft and a pre-session briefing (GM Pro) — every draft is yours to approve, edit, or discard before players see it. It never invents lore.

**Why does GM Pro cost $9/month?** Because you're buying it for the whole table — players are free forever. One GM pays; four to six people get the full experience.

**Is my world data private?** Yes, by default. Every world item, journal, and story arc starts private, and nothing is public unless you explicitly publish it. The one exception is a published session briefing, which gets an unguessable shareable link so a player or anyone else can read it without an account.

**Can I export my data?** Yes — full JSON export on every plan, including Free.
